New to 928 and have a few general questions

Hello,

I am new to the forum and a new owner of a 1986.5 928s. The car is currently at a local garage getting the once over. It has 40k original miles and runs like a dream. However, I will await the results prior to being too optimistic. I have a few general questions I am hoping someone can be kind enough to help me with.

1. I am missing the largest wrench in the tool kit. Can anyone tell me the size and where I can get a replacement?

2. The bolt and nut that holds down the spare tire is missing (retention plates is there). Is this something I can pick up at a hardware store or can you buy such?

3. Only interior flaw is a slight lift of the leather on the dash where it meets the defrost vent. I understand this may be a common problem. To me a larger vent plate may fix the problem. Does anyone know if one exists or any practical advise on trying to repair?

Welcome to the addiction :)

I would guess the large wrench is the tow hook, but a photo of the tool kit will clear that up.

928gt.com & 928intl.com & 928srus.com are 928 specialty providers, they may all have some variation in new and used parts. They would be good source for the parts you need. Or if an owner has a parts car (not uncommon) then you might get a better price (ebay, craigslists are other options). The vendors are the quickest and surest suppliers.

The defroster vent may is available from Nicole Mossinger (928 owner and recent 928 OC board member) at marketplaceadvisor.channeladvisor.com/st...&c=666339&i=26458136

Thank you for the quick reply. The tow hook is there. There are slots for four wrenches and the top one (largest one) is missing. I would take a pic but the car is being serviced. I will check out the sites you recommended.

Thank You,

Brian

Hey Brian, Cool to have you in the club.
Don't forget to start a profile page and post lost of pictures.
We are always more then happy to help you spend your money on your car, but you would have a long way to go to catch up to some on here.

If I was at home I would take a look at the tool kit but I don't remember the largest wrench off the top of my head unless it is a 14mm.
Better wait till someone pipes in.
ILL check later if know one dose.

Brad :D

Guys...One more question I would like to put out there. The rear seat belts seem to be frozen and will not release. Is there a fix for this without having to take the rear seats out?
