The Conti belt is of lesser quality that the Gates belt, in the past, they both made the belts for Porsche. Gates are the only ones I'll put on a 32v car, and with the deal that Roger has with Gates, he gets them at an amazing price.

You also have option of the Gates racing belt too now.

Nope, not in my opinion. It is a much tougher belt, no stretching per se. Greg builds $20-$50k motors, and I understand his wanting to only use the Porsche belt. There is liability in that and he limits his by using only parts out of a Porsche box.

As such, I have some liability in that also, but I stick with the stock stuff (unless I'm doing work on some of Gregs motors) but will stick with the Gates belts on anything I touch. The racing belt is a great idea for those that are going to put the cars though some tough engine work. Regular street use, use the gates.

I will say that those that have the non-interferance engines, a Conti belt will be ok, but with the price that Roger has on the Gates, why spend more?

I have a Porsche belt that I got as a present last year. Someone earlier said that the Porsche belts were made by both Gates and Conti, but mine says Dayco on it right next to the Porsche part number. Did Dayco start making them, or am I reading something wrong here?? Also is this a good belt or should I get a Gates belt instead??
