Great idea. I will switch two relays tomorrow night. These are the relays in the passenger well I hope?

What year is your 928? I just looked at the fuse/relay layouts on the 928gt.com and do not find a separate relay for each side for 77-79, but perhaps it changed in later years.

If you want to review these charts:

928gt.com > 928 Fuse/Relay Charts (on left hand side)

The relays are under the carpet in the passenger foot well, lift the Wood access panel from the bottom, sometimes you need to loosen the two Philips head screws in the lower wood piece.
This is called the CE (Central Electric) panel on the 928 all (or most) fuses and relays are located here, make sure you get the correct fuse/relay map for you model year.

Most important!!! Disconnect the battery before removing or replacing anything, as it is good safety practice when dealing with old electric connections and also it sounds like you are not too familiar w/ the 928.

This sounds like a motor issue or a cleaning and lube issue if you swapped switches and I think there is only one relay for both windows (on an 85/86 there is only one called the window winder).

Stan, I am glad you called me out on that... I had a couple of relays to replace and ONE was a "53" but it was for the fuel pump...the window lift is a completely different relay and much bigger!

The solution I hope was to solder a half inch piece of wire to bypass a dime sized black plastic component inside the motor. I think it was a high temperature cut off switch. It had the number 9003 stamped on the side.

One side had the component, the other did not. The motor is re-installed and working now.

Have tried to insert an image but no luck.
