The drivers side electric window on my 1979 928 works sometimes and other times does nothing when the glass is in the closed psotion. I cleaned out the console switch contacts. The switch looks bullet proof and cleaning seemed to help it work a few times. But after a few hours, it was back to no response from the switch.
Today I found that if I push up and then push down on the window glass, the window will move up and down maybe a 32nd of an inch. Then the switch will start working to lower and clsoe the window.
Seems like it has to be something behind the door panel. Does anyone know whereto get idiot-proof instructions for removing the door panel and have any suggestions on how to repair this problem?
There are many #53 relays, presumably James knew that that is the relay used for the windows. If that is true, then you could swap them, as you will have at least a few.
Can a relay go bad allowing one window to work but not the other?
I pulled out the console side panels and confirmed that both switches operate the passenger side window but neither switch will operate the driver side window.
