Ok folks,

Here’s a head scratcher for you… after reading as much as I could find on my headlight problem I went out to the car and started doing a visual inspection of the headlight mechanism and found nothing unusual. I decided to take the boot off the headlight manual operating mechanism and manually raise the headlights to see how they would respond when I operated the switch. I was surprised when I turned the ignition key to on; the headlights immediately lowered. I turned the lights on with the switch and they operated perfectly.

This kind of outcome is a little unsettling to me; it makes me wonder if this problem will resurface intermittently (if it does of course it will happen at the most inopportune time). I operated the headlights a few times and they responded perfectly. I hope it was a case of dirty contacts or something of that nature and everything will be fine. Naturally, if someone has some wisdom on this issue please don’t hesitate to share it.

There is a segmented brass disk in the headlight motor/gearbox that provides power to the motor and back to the headlamp relays at the proper times. Sounds as if there was a dirty spot on the disk. Hopefully, the problem won't pop u again - if it does, cleaning that disk might be the next step.

Headlight switch maybe failing? Also, mine would not go up...found corrosion in the connector at the motor...easy clean and fix....
