Headlight Problem was created by GlennS
A couple of weeks ago I was pulling out of a parking lot, it was dusk and when I turned the headlights on they only came up half way. They stayed that way for a a couple of miles and then can the rest of the way up.
Tonight I thought about that and tested the headlights in the garage. I turned them on and off a couple of times. On the third time the headlights did not come up but they turned on. I tried a couple more times with the same result. The headlights will lite but do not rise.
I am looking for suggestions as to what the cause of the problem might be.
Thanks,
Glenn

Sorry Glenn, those things to be pretty robust. You know how to bring them up manually right? I am sure someone knows and will post soon.
I have had one not go all the way down, but that turned out to be a piece of something else getting in the way that I did not secure.

Thanks Mike, yes I do know how to operate them manually. I am hoping it is a relay or something like that. I expect that one of our peers have some experience with the circuit.

Make sure the mechanism is clear and not falling off or it may punch a hole in the rad.
Do you have a set of manuals?

I have the manuals on CD. Is there guidance in the manual on the headlights?

I found this info
license-plate lights are the Same fuse: #10, 5 amp.
Also check for 12 volts (with lights turned on) on the red/yellow wire at the potentiometer (adjusting knob). The brown/red wire is ground, check for zero ohms to a clean chassis point. The voltage on the green/yellow will vary with the knob setting, this is what tells the motors what position to move to.
