1978 Battery Box

its a little metal wedge that bolts down over the battery on the very back of the box. i just had to order up one form 928int as well today. mine was missing.

78 is different than all other years. Its very long (even longer than 79).

should be a group 49 battery. same used up till mid 80's. then they went with the smaller ones.

I think Jadz is saying that it's a larger battery still than the group 49.

Jim, Just because we're interested, can you get some measurements on the '78 battery?

On my 78 ROW-model the batterybox has a "lid" fastend on the 4 bolts sticking
up from the batterybox itself with 4 nuts.

One model of the "lid" can be seen on page 902 in the PET-catalog (78 to 82 version).
The "lid" on my car is smaller, but serves the same function.

Note that the lid is made of metal, and the rubber-pieces underneat
the lid is NOT for fun! Without them a fatal short of the battery can occur!

Here in Europe the batterysizes is measured a bit different than in the US,
but I have used both 66Ah and 88Ah batteries. The latter fills the batterybox
to the rim
