The old version of Royal Purple 20W-50 has a higher level of ZDDP than current production, according to the distributor that I talked to yesterday.

I have never used Royal Purple, but internet chatter says that it is good stuff. The local distributor has about twelve cases (twelve quarts/case) that they are closing out at $5.76/quart, plus shipping. Not a give-away price, but not bad.

You can call them at 1 (770) 426-6070. Local pickup next to McCollum Airfield, in Kennesaw, GA, or actual cost of UPS shipping. They take credit cards over the phone.

I have no personal knowledge of the oil or the company, and no affiliation.

I used RP tranny fluid in my auto box on my '88. After about 10k track miles and 20k street miles it smelled burned up and so too was my auto trans! NOT GOOD! That does not mean their fluids are bad or their oil is, but I tell you I won't be using their stuff after needing to replace a trans in my car...

I use and also recommend RP 20W 50 for our cars due to the high content of ZZDP which is essential for our engines.

Roger what is the cost of that per qt? I have used Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec and plain old Castrol Dino oil over the years. All in 20/50 or as close to it as I can get...
