I'd call Rich Andrade as he is one of our members here and does the rebuilds himself and has pretty much rebuilt every one elses rebuilds at this point... He might not be able to provide a box for you...but I am not sure. I know he can take yours as a core and send a rebuilt, but these puppies are not the easiest things to find. You might check in with Bad Brad H up in the great white north. He pulled his entire system and went with a different injection system altogether so might sell you his boxes...They are good too AFAIK.

Quick update,

I've spent the better part of working hours scouring the net and finally found a working EZK (928 618 124 11) on ebay (crossing fingers). Additionally I got in contact with a local shop ( www.systemsc.com/ ) Lauren is willing to sell me a non working core (928.618.123.11) for a reasonable cost. Once I have that I will contact Rich and see about a rebuild...

Unfortunately the local mechanic is unable to respond to my requests asking him to take a look around for a box/bucket that might have been missed when returning the car.

If you know what you are looking for, maybe the local shop wouldn't mind you having a look around. As far as a non-working core, what price is reasonable to you? Let us know, so we can let you know if WE think it's reasonable. The collective knowledge here could save you a boatload of money.

Thank you to forum members for your advice and thoughts, as of today I've taken this lemon (of a situation) and spruced up my Hefeweizen. Safe to say this first endeavor into the restore/rebuild can be closed.

I went ahead and bought a non functional core at a very reasonable price ($200.00) from a very nice gentleman named Loren. I promptly drove to 928 intl. (thanks for the tip Austin) hoping to solicit free help and advice on what else I needed for this first phase. I introduced myself to guy name Mark Anderson who was able to identify other missing items based upon my pictures (EZK/LH Bracket and Coding Plug, etc..), and confirm the other connectors were used on 89+. I am fortunate that 928 intl. is about 6 miles from my home.

Factoring the excellent help Mark gave and his proximity to my house (car) I went ahead and traded the non functional core for a rebuilt LH and drove off with my treasure of goodies and hard work ahead of me.

I might of struck Mark as a bit crazy considering I had a list of purchased and items to purchase of serviceable items when replacing the timing belt. I say this only because I have not done any compressions tests yet (maybe something to think about!).

So if you haven't realized, I am new to mechanical engineering and car mechanics (computers, code, and bikes, let me at em). But what can is say, this is a love of Porsche, a hobby, and opportunity for growth and adventure, and as my son (6yr) grows I would like to share my experiences and hopefully give him this car, well as long as he selects Stanford over USC (no offense anyone).

hope the money spent on the computers is worthwhile and any suspicion of a bad timing belt are all for not.

A compression test will go far in confirming engine condition.
