Hello, I want to join the club of 928 owners, am looking at this craigslist listing for a 1985 with a lot of miles (~140k)

Wondering if it's worth it. Meeting owner tmw to check service records and inspect car i.e. tb, wp, fuel lines etc.

Any advice would help! Thanks

Tell him you want to think about it and post some ext and int pics alone with the price.

Good: new tires (about 1,000 miles old), intake service complete (intake gaskets, hard vacuum lines)

Bad:
+ vacuum leak in HVAC system (all of the mix flaps are vacuum-operated), specifically the mix flap. You can hear it change back and forth occasionally based on acceleration.
+ AC is R12. recently it did blow cold, but does not currently. You can hear it coming on. The diagnosis is the mix flap which still allows hot air into the cabin, related to the above item.
+ radio is hard-wired and does not keep its memory stations.
+ replacement hood has structural bend; original hood had superficial dents on top. see pics.
+ odometer works; trip odometer only partially works and electrically re-sets itself every few miles.
+ hood pull is not attached to A-pillar, so it's more like a pull cord. (see pics.) I purchased but didn't install a good cable.

Price 5000

What do you guys think?
Thanks

Timing belt and water pump (rebuilt) last July, less than 4,000 miles ago
replaced three fuel lines / pieces: the Y junction in the fender, the "link" at the back of the intake, and the run across the front of the engine to the passenger regulator.

140K is not a lot of miles on a 928 (for a maintained car). The car even has the 14 connector cover on the passenger side of the engine compartment. That tells me that someone cared enough about the car to keep that easily removed and lost piece on the car.
