It is correct that injectors aren't made by the car manufacturers- there are standards for the clips, spray pattern, pintle, etc. So, same injectors may be on a Mitsu and a Honda, or a VW and Audi. There are two impedences, high and low, and IIRC which is about even odds, one is the 'general rule' for asian cars and the other for European....but I could be wrong and it could be old/new.

Yes, there are injectors spec'd for other applications, including Ford mustangs, that bolt right in.

The improved pintle design provides better atomization of the fuel charge...so the advantage from design is extremely small. However, if one is removing existing somewhat ancient injectors for cleaning to ensure proper flow and properly sealing o-rings, then why not get the technology more up to date at well.

I like mine, obtained from ebay. Five-O injectors has also tuned into the 928 market and Roger is a great source-- and has the correct o-rings for install and the vaccuum kits on hand.

On the wiring harness......good luck. Cheapest I found for my 83 was 600.00. So I had my mechanic friend remove the current one completely and repair it and recover parts with shrink tubing etc. Has run like a top since and was quite a bit cheaper than a new one.

There is a post out there on someone who did just that, just rebuild his.

It can definitely (along with the 14 pin connector which we also replaced) be a source of various issues on our cars.

Failing computers from age and a brittle wiring harness is one of the reasons I installed the tec-4 GT system and harness.
Of course I still had to build the harness and install the engine side ends.



But it finished up ok
