Does anyone have suggestions for replacing the front shocks on a 1982 928S (ROW). The rear Bilstein B6s are readily available but the original Front B6 shocks are not available anywhere.

Does Koni make a better shock than the original Bilstein?

I have front shocks with the springs and buffers all in excellent condition. I have parted out my 1982 928S and I can supply engine, gearbox, suspension and body parts. Let me know if you are interested. Call Noel 561 3071897 or email richg2931@yahoo.com

Do you have both the front and rear spring sets? If the springs are the same as originally installed in a 89 SR4, I would be interested. My present springs installed by the PO for track purposes are too stiff.

The original Bilstein rear shocks are still available, the problem I have is the front shocks (928 343 055 05) are no longer available. Porsche lists the replacement Bilstein shock as 928 343 055 20. A call to Bilstein USA revealed that Bilstein doesn't make a front replacement shock for the 1982 928 S with the M474 suspension although they do make the rear shocks still.

To complicate the matter, RosePassion.com lists an adjustable Bilstein B6 shock as a direct replacement. To my knowledge, adjustable front shocks were not available till at least 1984.

My question is: Will the adjustable Bilstein shocks fit the earlier cars without further modifications such as A-arm/Lower control arm replacement?

Also, in answer to Whale Driver and Trainer, the 1989 928 is 308lbs heavier than the 1982 model so it would likely have heavier springs. Also, one would need to investigate whether the car was originally an M474 as the M474 cars had springs that were somewhat heavier but also 6mm shorter if what I've read is true.
