Fuel distributor and fuel system

I have joined this club for a specific reason.
I have owned my 1983 928 Euro for 28 years this year.
My fuel pump finally seized and the system itself became contaminated enough that the CIS fuel distributor became clogged as well as the injectors.
I disassembled cleaned and reassembled the whole system and number of times but couldn't get it right.
I was told no one can possibly rebuild a CIS fuel distributor and they were impossible to acquire.
Not only was that wrong, but the teeny tiny o rings inside of the damn thing were available at my import car parts store, SG, for like two bucks for all 8 of them. They slipped on easily with a pic.
Using brake cleaning spray was the key.
After finally giving up on ever getting the car to run correct again, I put the whole thing back together for the final time, thus time putting the AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY back on...
POOF !
Car runs PERFECT again.
In ALL those CRAP FORUMS, not ONE PERSON mentioned AIR CLEANER MUST BE ON !!!
So, I've joined this club, SPECIFICALLY to share this piece of simple, but ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY bit of information.
THE AIR CLEANER MUST BE IN PLACE !!!

This fact may well be true for your Porsche 928. I've started and run my two CIS 1979 Porsche 928s without the air filter box installed and they run just fine.
