OC elections - Treasurer was created by Gary Knox
928 Owners Club members,
I have been Treasurer of the 928 OC for the past 10 years, replacing Ed Ruiz (a club founder) when he moved to Europe. During those 10 years, the assets of the Club have essentially tripled, and as of 8/6/15, we have no outstanding bills that have not been paid. Thanks to the push by previous president Stan Shaw, and the willingness of members to organize 928 meets, the Club has been able to use your membership fees to help support nearly 100 regional or international gatherings during those 10 years. This is in addition to the small gifts you received upon joining or renewing your membership. The club is currently in the healthiest financial condition it has been in since it was founded. It also continues as an approved 501(c)3 organization for IRS purposes
I am a charter member of 928 OC, and have owned six 928's, ranging from '87 through '94 over the past 15 years. I sold the last 928 I owned in May, so am currently without a 928 (the bylaws allow a non-928 owner to be an officer). Looking to the future, I want and hope to be 'associated' with the 928 Owners Club because of all the great people I've met through owning those cars, but will probably not buy another Porsche 928.
I was asked if I'd continue as Treasurer if nominated and elected, and after some deliberation, I said 'yes'. My reason for continuing was that there will probably be considerable changes in Club officers this year, and I felt the continuation of Marc White and me would keep a sense of 'history' about what has worked and what has not worked over the past 10 years or more. I am excited about the quality of the candidates for the various offices, and feel that this infusion of new ideas and talents will be good for the club. Considering a need to keep new ideas and talents coming into the board, my agreement to accept the possible election was contingent upon 'retiring' at the end of this term.
Thus, I solicit your vote, but also ask every member to start considering WHO you would like for the next 928 OC Treasurer. September 28, 2017 will be here very soon, and I'm looking forward to transitioning to and working with the next person who will handle 928 OC funds.
Thank you for your past support and trust.
