Right now I have seen 4 928s in my area in my budget range (< $13000). I don't want to look at earlier than 1986 models. What I saw was : a 1986 s that needs cosmetic repairs, really dirty engine 77,000 miles for $6100, a real nice 1986.5 s with 114,000 miles great cosmetic shape, rear tail added and 17 inch wheels w/ new tires for $7500, 1988 black & black s4 with 118,000 in super shape for $11,900 and 1987 s4 very good shape with 41,000 miles for $12,900 original owner. Don't know how much to spend and put away for unexpected repairs.

I made the plunge around Thanksgiving and bought the nice looking Guards Red1986.5 with the 17 inch wheels and S4 tail. I spent $7200 for the car, another $1200 on tires and replacing/fixing misc stuff inside car. The car is being worked on presently to replace air mass flow sensor, as well as gaskets & hoses to fix fluid and vacuum leaks - should cost $2200. I got another key from the Boardwalk Porsche folks, found a sun roof motor cover from 928 International (plus other goodies) and have learned alot from this forum group as well the great 928 owners here in Dallas/Fort Worth.
