who has completely replaced their audio system

I'm 49 as well. Julie said I'm going deafso she had my hearing checked. Good news is my ears are fine. Bad news is I must be tunning her out on purpose. She stil loves me but I don't know why. Once my new RMB is on I can justify a new stereo system.

I know what you mean.
If I hear it more then twice I tune it out but the problem is that it takes at least 3-4 times for me to remember something LOL.

How is your stereo installation going? I want to replace my existing speakers with new ones. Can you or anyone answer some questions?

Here are pics of my hatch area and back seat speakers. (I have a total of 8 speaker in the car) When removing them the hatch speakers seem to be connected to the back seat speakers. Does that sound correct? What kind of speakers are the back seat that they have resistor on them? ( 2 way?)

Are these speakers 4 ohms? Do I have to replace with the same? I have a slightly updated head unit (Kennwood) that I will replace at some point also. What do I have to do about my amp if I still have one? (I haven't looked yet)

I do not know that much about the stock system, but I have replaced my speakers, head, and amp.

I removed the old aftermarket deck and traced the butchered wires to the passenger seat/door sill area where I cut them and sealed with shrink tube.

I decided to install all new wire.
All the speakers were completely rotten.
I replaced the two speakers in the doors and both rear seat 6" speakers.
I left the 2+2 speakers that were further back in the hatch disconnected, as I planed a sub.

the speakers I used are JL speakers XR653-cs check the link

As you can see they come with some nice cross-over’s which will fit in the doors where the stock one was. I unbolted the old one, cut the bolts off and silicone the new x over to the panel
I ran the 6 inch speaker wire from the door cross-over

I used J L's 600 watt compact XD600/6 and I mounted it on the drivers side, back of the rear seat just off the floor and the wires run into the spare tire/battery compartment under the rug. see the amp here

What you see in that back seat speaker is the crossover.
My car has 10 speakers.
There are 2 speakers on each side in my hatch, I left them disconnected for now.

You will see that your rear 6 inch speaker is one piece with the cover.
Cut the rib part of the speaker so that the new speaker can be attached.
It needs to be cut as close to the edge as you can and I still had to grind some of the plastic off and smooth it out with the bench grinder. Worked well.
I am looking for the step by step link that I saw once.
