rear hatch light connector

where is the connector? interior lights will not turn off while driving or sitting still . i've changed relay but did no good. someone said it's probably the hatch electrical connector, but where is it. the car acts like the doors are open.1988 s4, automatic. thanks, john

The connector for the pin switch on the hatch is right at the very bottom of the hatch receiver. The pin actually screws in to the bottom of the receiver and there wire that connects to it I think actually has a plug so you can easily remove the pin switch or unplug it to defeat that switch altogether if you like. One of your switches is clearly NOT working. A temporary work around is to just turn all the lights in the car off...

all the lights were working.i did find. i did find pin switch at bottom of the hatch receiver. i noticed hatch light was coming on but when i pushed in plastic joint it went off but after releasing plastic light wouldn,t come back on. when it tried to shut off it only got dimmer and wouldn't go off. it had to be in wiring , i think i have it corrected now. thanks guys, john
