A topic almost as devisive as which brand of oil we MUST use.

Am I missing something here?
I live in Texas, I haven't put the car on the track, or done any rallycross events, I enjoy spirited driving but below what our cars are capable of
Went down a rotor rabbit hole last night.
Choices were Zimmerman (OEM, ~$130/corner) vs Dynamic Friction (~$50/corner).
Both are closer than expected:
Comparable base specs (G3000/G11H18 vs ENG-GJL-200 class materials)
Similar casting temps, dwell times, and cooling cycles based on available info
No visibility into alloying mix (% of Mo, Cr, Cu, etc.), which is probably the main differentiator. Alloying helps with microstructure stability, tensile strength, and fatigue resistance, But for rotors it’s incremental—single-digit % improvements, not step changes.
On machining:
Zimmerman finishes to OEM spec in germany
DFC is within 0.010 mm (which is within Porsche's design requirements) with one exception. Braking surface, Porsche calls for .006mm so SDC is off by ~4 microns. I'm pretty sure finishing work happens in their California factory.
Both offer solid support for replacing out of spec parts.
Is the coating zimmerman applies to non friction surfaces enough to warrant a 2.5x price delta?

I don't have any history with Dynamic Friction products. I've used Zimmermann rotors and don't have any complaints. If you purchase them let us know how they work out.

For regular street driving the DFC should be perfectly fine. The Zimmermann coating mainly helps with initial rust bloom when the car sits, which matters more if you're doing track days or storing it outdoors. Hope it helps
