Hi,I am looking for the part number for the transmission vent hose that connects from the top of the reservoir to the support housing on the tail of the transmission. This is for a Porsche 928 S4 1989 LHD 4-Speed Automatic A28.16. I am looking to cure a transmission leak and this is one of the replacement parts that I need.

Colin Jensan (see
) did an excellent video on common areas that leak around the transmission.

I have attached a picture of the part from his video.

I looked at the Porsche "PET" parts list and didn't see any mention of this hose, so it probably is just stock hose.  Measure the inside diameter and length needed and purchase it from an automotive supply company.

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the pointers. I don't suppose you know how difficult it is to attach the hose to the support housing on the tail of the transmission. Removing from the reservoir looks straight forward, although care will be needed not to break the plastic connection that the hose slides onto.

Regards

Gerry

Sorry, I've never done this work on the transmission.

If I recall correctly, this hose ID is 3mm (1/8").   I think most owners have replaced it with a 1/8" silicone vacuum hose.  Readily available, even on Amazon!

Good luck with your car and replacing this hose.

The original hose is a fabric-wrapped rubber hose common on many German cars since the 1960's. That's as far back as I remember. It gets used as vacuum hose, among other things. Same hose is used on the other side, for the connection between the vacuum modulator and the hard tube strapped to the torque tube to the intake manifold in front.

Look for part number N-020-353-27. More practical is to find a local VW vintage parts source, and compare your hose to get the perfect replacement. Plenty of aftermarket sources for exactly the same hose.

Amazon carries this in Genuine Volkswagen flavor for about $18 right now if you can't find it locally.

HTH!
