Recent 928 owner

Hello fellow 928 owners! I recently purchase 1984 928S. This is my 1st Porsche and I have been a longtime fan of the 928.
I live in Tampa Florida I am looking for any info or suggestions on a shop or mechanic to work on my 928.
For the most part the car is pretty pure, runs, shifts and most things are working, but there is a hesitation during acceleration and sometimes the car just dies while at idle.
I am looking for someone to work on the car.
Any suggestions?

There are a lot of vacuum lines under that hood, and often some of them leak (or are just loose) and can cause that. Find someone who can do a smoke test to check for leaks, and I think you will see some improvement.

Yeah there are a lot of things that I don’t have the technical experience to attempt on my own. Hence hoping for a recommendation for a local mechanic.

Welcome.  Wish I could recommend a mechanic in the FL area, but am not aware of any.  Hope others will chime in and give you good counsel.   The closest one I'm aware of is Kevin Berez in Atlanta area.   He posts a lot of Rennlist 928 Forum  -   rennlist.com/forums/928-forum-69/   .   The name he posts under is:  "Kevin in Atlanta".   Sean Ratts in Dallas TX area is excellent, but a long way from FL!

There is a lot to learn about these cars, so it is great if you can find a nearby enthusiast who knows the cars well and does his/her own work.   That way, you can learn to DIY, save a lot of money, and appreciate the engineering that went into the cars even better.

Over the past 25 years, I've owned 7 of the '87-'95 models.  They are certainly great GT cars.
