Porsche 928 Radio Repair

The CR-1 radio in my 1993 Porsche 928 GTS stopped working years ago. Apparently the capacitors go bad.  Mine was popping loudly and then just stopped working.  They also advertise that they repair other classic radios, so they may also be able to repair earlier 928 radios. In the meantime I installed a Porsche Classic Radio.  It is a great upgrade as it has modern features like Bluetooth, SD Card, hands free phone and Navigation.  Creative Car Audio engineered a custom wiring harness so there was no need for any wire cutting, the Porsche Classic Radio just plugs into the original 928 GTS wiring.

That is cool. I thought seriously about getting one of those, but ended up going with a Blaupunkt Bremen instead. It's just getting installed now-- I will take a picture when it's done.

The Porsche Classic doesn't fit in an early 928, at least the 1978 - 1979. I'm not sure when the change was made to a standard DIN 1 slot.

Hopefully the Bremen will fit.

Bremen fits (and works) very nicely. Does everything I want.
