Hello All:
I have a 79 and would like to really upgrade the brakes. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks, Stephan

Hello Stephan,
A great brake upgrade would be to install 928 S4 4-piston Brembo brakes front and back. These were used from model year 1986.5 (above VIN 1000) through 1991. They may be available from recycle yards (such as 928 International). The 928 GTS used even larger front rotors, they're sold as "big red" Brembo upgrade. This is likely overkill and would be more expensive.
The front suspension of an earlier car must be changed to newer or an adapter used for the 4-piston front calipers to fit.
I have made such a modification to my 1979 928 Euro Track car and the brakes are great.

I put 1999-2005 996 carrera monobloc Brembo's on my 1978. I used a 951 balancing valve also. Car brakes excellently and very controlled without significant dive under hard braking. Of course this isn't purist, but it's still porsche. Then again S4 brake conversion isn't purist either

What is required to fit the Carrera brakes on to an early year 928?
