Old gas

Thanks all. I drained the fuel - about 7 gallons( so fuel gauge is pretty accurate!) renewed the filter, put in a bit of 104+ , dry gas, and five gallons of fresh hi-test. Fired right up!!!
No BS, no nothing, purred like a really big kitten. I am grateful. Took it out for a short spin to check out the workings of the other things I did - rotors, brake hoses, pads, speed bleeders(half of which didn't seat right and leaked, so went back to originals) ball joint boots, greasable sway bar bushings, and Bilstein shocks. Now I find that the speedo isn't working. It just sits there at zero. I'll have to dig up some info on what the fix is for that. In the meantime, feel free to chime in!!!

Try cleaning the connector in the front corner of the spare tire well.

Went out for a drive to fill up on gas and noticed that none of the speedo stuff is working... odometer & trip odo. I looked in the spare tire well for connectors and found several. Two canister type ones that look like they belong to the braking system, one screwed onto the front wall of the well - tiny black thing with two pins, then there are two flat white connectors, each with five pins. The stuff I've read on this mentions a connector with only four pins that might be the culprit. I don't see one here. The two flat connectors wire colors areas follows, from left to right, as they sit in their space - white w/pink stripe,purple, purple/white, blk/yel, grey/yel. the other - white, blk,yel,gn, pink. Any further advice would be very welcome!!!

You're in there, and you need to close it up - just clean all of them. That wouldn't take much longer than it would take me to research the problem (look back thru the thread to find what year the car is, get out the shop manual, find the wiring diagram, dig thru the circuits to find the right connector, check the wire colors, write a reply trying to explain which connector is the right one)...

OK, I went back into the car today to clean all the contacts and found that the battery is dead. A brand new interstate battery drained in three weeks of the car sitting in the garage. All doors closed, electronic items off. Could that have anything to do with the speedo issue? My guess is not, but I'm asking anyway. So, where and how might I start to find the battery draining culprit? I may have limited mechanical knowledge/experience, but even less electrical. And, on a completely different note, I find evidence of mouse activity in the passenger side parcel shelf! The car sits for four/five years and no mouse debris.(anywhere I can see or get to) Three weeks after getting it back on the road and I get mice. What I'd like to know is how do they get INSIDE the cabin when everything(that I know of) is closed up? Aaaargh!!!
