Ride height adjustment issue

The threaded ring on the shock seems to spin and not fixed on the shock so the adjustment collar and threaded ring both spin together. Any trick to get this to stop short of removing the coil over completely to adjust?

Usually, people just go ahead and replace the shocks when the adjustments get to that condition.

Went back and jacked car up and marked adjuster ring on shock and started turning again, this time the spring started to compress and noticed increase movement vs mark on shock.

Took for a long ride and remeasured and and it's moving up. Will remeasure again tomorrow and adjust again...getting there!
