I leave my car for 2-3 months at a time with it hooked up and I know that I can walk up and it will start.
I installed a good quality battery and I found my drain which was a rear defog relay.

So you leave town for a while? I would suggest asking a friend to come over and start the car at least weekly. Turn the air conditioning on monthly [the Porsche manual directs this].
For a while I lived in Orlando and worked out of Brussels, and only spent a week each month at my house in Flori-duh. My car sat for three weeks at a time, and it HATED this! I never ever had a battery issue, but it sounded dry each time I started it up. I blew blue smoke when I got on it after letting it sit for weeks, I always let it warm up completely. These days I work for an airline that puts me at home far more often [though I fly into Calgary and Edmonton on occasion-], and I use 10W40 instead of the thick Castrol 20W50, which probably saved my rings, but is not necessary now.
-I have a boat that sits in the canal behind my house in Fort Lauderdale year round, and it is kept open. I have bottom paint, renew it each 6 months. I don't have canvas covers, but it is a cheap boat, and the bilge pump runs. For a while I ran into trouble with the bilge pump dying. I figured it was just a wet year, but something began to stink in Denmark; On a whim, I took that marine battery to the local parts store and sure enough: It had a BAD cell! They GAVE me, free of charge, a new battery. Guess what? Same bilge pump...but not a BIT of trouble. I am convinced that modern batteries are JUNK!!!!! You're having trouble with your battery? Alberta is just as warm as south Florida in the summers. CHANGE that thing and you can't go wrong!
