Need help indentifying wire was created by ctepley
I am in the process of replacing my dash light bulbs and found a wire that had grounded out and was bare. It has power to it. It looks like it would go to the fog light switch. It is lime green. it is in the harness to the fog light but goes nowhere and is just hanging there. I have had problems getting my dash lights to work and was wondering if this was the culprit. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Did you check the Technical Tips area for wiring diagrams and/or pod replacement? Not sure you will find your answer there, but you never know. I have not taken my pod off before, so I am ZERO help on this one.
I am sure someone will chime in here before long... I know we have several members who are active on this forum who have taken the pod out of their car more than once, they will probably have a clue.

I don't know that you will find wiring diagrams, although I did find one at Dwayne's site:

Is your fog light switch functional? There are just two wires that come from your dinner switch on the same side of the instrument pod. Perhaps the bare wire is the power supply for the dinner though it seems doubtful since I don't recall that wire to have lime green insulation. I bet you need a new dinner switch and that the bare wire is a separate issue altogether.

Almost impossible to answer without knowing the model year - lots of differences between a '78 and a '95...
I have never seen any wire color other than black/blue on the dash light circuit.
Find the dimmer for your dash lights (location varies with model year), check for 12 vdc on both sides (dash lights on). If no power on either side, check the fuse (location varies with model year) and its connections. Power on one side only, clean the dimmer, or simply connect the two leads, eliminating the dimmer - most people feel that the lights aren't bright enough anyway.

Sorry, my car is a 1983 928s. The only thing I can tell that is not working is my dash lights. I put new bulbs in and nothing.
