I recently bought a 1986.5 S, it had a red spare tire that didn't seem to fit properly in the well, the part number is 928-302-130-02. In the 1986 Porsche 928 catalog the spare part number is 928-362-030-02. I know the brake size changed later in the year. I was wondering what the correct spare tire should be for my car - a 1986.5. I also have another spare tire for the 928, part number 928-361-018-03. Both spares don't seem to fit in the well quite right either too much tire or too high a rim for the spare tire compartment lid to go on correctly.

I am also playing with the hood light that illuminates the engine. Where does the wire hook into? I am trying to get that light working. I understand that the light only works when the headlight are fully on?

Thanks - Ted

Red sounds correct. If it was ever filled with air it will be difficult to get it back down to size again, perhaps if you take the valve stem internals out you can get it in, then re-install the valve stem internals

My 1986.5 does not have a red rim.

Can you give me the part number your is? The spare tires are hard to put back into well after use aren't they? Thanks - Ted

Right now my car is in storage 30 miles away. It you still need the numbers in March when I take it out I would be glad to provide. The spare fits snuggly but drops right in the well.
