I'm new to the site; just bought my first 928 ('85 928S White/Brown leather 5spd). Thank you for having this site running...it has been quite a help thusfar.
I am trying to add coolant fluid to my tank, and I am having trouble getting the cap off. By turning counter-clockwise, I can loosen it. I just can't pop it off from that point. I didn't want to provide too much pressure in fear of breaking something.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks very much for your time.

If I recall correctly there are two tabs under the cap that must be aligned with two slots in the radiator intake (where it is mounted). You just need to align those tabs when pulling up, slight pressure upward when turning the cap should do it.
If not, then let me know and I will check one of mine

Right, and an old cap can be stubborn if the PO got rough removing it from time to time because those tabs will bend to a point that it won't come off completely without wiggling it so that the alignment will be right to remove.

Read the manual, but yea, they are not easy to get off if they have ever been manhandled!

when the cap is completely closed it aligns with the marks. To undo press down and turn anti clockwise until the tabs line up the openings then gently pull up.
The cap does get bent and so does the tank.....be careful.

Thanks for the input. After turning the cap counter-clockwise and loosening it, gently pressing down and turning further counter-clockwise popped it off. I followed the reverse steps to get in back on. Nothing broke, so I am thankful.
Thanks again,
Bryan
