Wires going to the hatch lock Mech

Can anyone tell me what the wires going to the hatch lock Mech are for?

Brian, there are several. Depends on the year of the car. In the later cars there are wires that go back there for the hatch release. In all years (I think) there is a pin switch at the base of the hatch latch receiver that turns on the inside lights when the hatch is open. There are also some wires going back that way for the wiper motor...

Just a suggestion. Put your Model Year, Transmission type in a signature similar to mine or James'. Then everyone wont have to ask every time. It helps when trying to answer questions.

If you go up to the upper left of the page and click on the "User CP". Then click on "Edit Signature". Put your info there in the Signature box and SAVE SIGNATURE at the bottom. You won't have to type it out all the time. It will be there for every post.
