Sunday drive to a sad, early 78 928

I happened across an ad for a '78 5 speed nearby for a relatively low price with very low miles purported. The car looked fair in the pics and was nearby so I took the RX-7 and wife for a Sunday afternoon drive.

Alas, poor think is really past it. Badly resprayed twice, reupholstered front seats already shot, rusty engine, low mileage had to be because of a broken odometer, etc. But it was interesting for me to see such an early car - no a/c vents in the dash, no rub strip or sunroof, etc.

VIN is 9288200174 so it is an NA car from early in the '78 production run:



The guy selling it just wants money four tires for his truck so he tried to bargain. It's really only good as a parts car, and maybe not even that except for something really hard to get, but I thought you guys might find the pics interesting (the opposite of Brad's 928 porn):

Is it worth $600 for an early 5 speed.
