:eek:I am was wondering if anyone knew what to except to get a complete interior and color change, I went on the internet and found a guy that would do it for $12,000.00. I did not even want to get close to that. Is that what I should except?

My quick thoughts:

A new interior would probably run all of $5k, perhaps more, not including installation. A new paint job would probably cost at least $3k, without any bodywork.

So $12k doesn't sound unreasonable at all, unless it is just a redye of the interior while in place and repainting without disassemble.

No, my interior needs help, dash, seats and door panels, it is also time for paint. This is a car that I have had a while and am just looking to get it back in shape. Even if I have to spend $10,000 to get everything done, it is cheaper than a new Kea or Toyota.

Then yes, I think $12k is reasonable, particularly if this includes all labor and the work will be done to at least original equipment standards.

There are two well respected members of the 928 community that do 928 interior work, in case you want people familiar with 928 interior work:
(in alpha order)
Rob Budd: www.928leather.com/
Paul Champagne www.designpaulchampagne.com/PorscheLeather.html

I see that Paul has a price list there.

It looks like Pauls custom seats are around $1500-$1700
But the factory seats are less then half of that, from what I can see.

The best way for you to spend that kind of money would be to sell that car (or give it away if it actually needs interior and paint...it is not worth much even if it is mechanically decent) and spend $12k on a FANTASTIC 928S, a concours ready OB, or a decent driver S4!

Sorry to be so glum about it, but it is true. As the great Jim Bailey says, your car is "$10k (or we actually KNOW $12k+) away from being a $5k car!" While that is a depressing thought it is completely true and to let a non-928 guy rip out your interior to redo it...is just BEGGING for SERIOUS trouble!!

If you could actually do what you are talking about for $12k and seriously get a quality (as in factory original quality) job it would be WELL worth it, but I suspect that even at a massive $12k they will realize they are losing a LOT of money on the job and it will end up being slapped back together half assed and the car will never be "quite right".
