I have moved that thread to events

Perhaps we should consider a controlled method of cross-posting.

For example - I primarily monitor the technical discussion, so I would not see a posting for an event in my area. If the event organizer makes a post in the technical discussion area, it will immediately get replies and discussion. This leads to dilution and mixing of the forums.

Perhaps instead, the event organizers/moderators should be encouraged to post a sticky, with no user comments or posts allowed, in each of the forums. This would provide a "news and announcements" section at the top of each of the forums, so that users can stay informed about what is going on in each of the forums.

Can you give an example as I am still not clear as to what the sticky should say. for example-[today in the tech section we are discussing why batterys drain, how to wire in your after market stereo, how to tune your ITB] something like this?

The original idea was to allow cross-communication for folks who check only a limited number of the forums. For example, a person who only looked at the Technical Discussion might well never see the notifications and discussions about an event in his home town. If there was a sticky at the top where non-technical items of interest could be posted ("Dyno Day in North Atlanta", as a non-existent example for discussion). Then, anyone who came to the Technical Discussion forum would have a chance to see it.

I don't want to create a problem or a lot of work for the moderators, so it should be short and sweet. I don't think that any discussion or comments should be allowed in the notification thread - anyone who wants to comment or discuss should go to the appropriate forum and find the thread there.

There were numerous comments on the survey about the OC needing better communication - this is just a simple way to try to achieve that, without dumping a lot of work on anyone.

Ok now I understand.
I would want to get the other mods input as we would both need to work together.
This may also be one of those items that the new prez and board could comment on and direct.
