2 May - Meeting another enthusiast

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Matt Fabrizio (17prospective buyer on RL). He's 18 and a 928 enthusiast, but not yet an OC member. He's a student and money is tight, especially fixing a 928. Maybe we should have a special under-21 free membership to encourage the younger generation, since there are so few?

Matt has an '87 5spd S4 - actually an early one with a tilting wing. He didn't realize that this is relatively rare. The PO had cemented it down to stop it popping up... Matt is restoring it. Currently he has the engine out. His car does not have all of the extra leather mine has that required so much restoration.

I went there to pick up a new/reconditioned air pump that he didn't want. I know, most of you guys chuck them out, but I want to replace my seized one.

It was a pleasure to chat about with Matt and his father over coffee. 928 owners are few and spread apart in Ontario, and we have no local get-togethers. He lives close to an hour from me, but ironically got his car just down the road from where I live.

Sounds like a good idea maybe Stan can take it to the board

I think the issue would be that our membership chair would be burdened with trying to make sure everything is as it is supposed to be and the occurrences would be rare.

Maybe instead the prospective junior member finds one, or more, members to sponsor his/her membership....
