Just bought my first 928 !!!! was created by Pauls 86.5
So about 3 weeks ago I drove to Atlanta to pick up my 1986.5 928 !!
I rented a trailer to pick it up I was afraid to drive it 800 miles back and I didn't want to put the extra miles on it. It has 72,000 miles on it now. It's an automatic and in great shape but I do have things to work on. The last couple of weeks I have been following this sight and decided to sign up today !!!
So will start on my list next week end, I have been to busy driving it so far and WOW what a car it is to drive !!!! So I'm excited to get stated and I already have a list of questions but I will get into that next week.

Hey Paul, check out the Tips and the Technical Library. There are some free WSM (work shop manuals) and then there is a CD with them and some other good stuff.
This is a very quiet board but we store as much tech info as we can and provide a place for your car Journal.
Last but not least the 928 Owners Club will sponsor any events you would like to host. you can ask Stan about that later.
of course every board has its read me section that you can look over.
Enjoy the 928 family
Brad

congrats- that looks like one of the colors I was hunting for before I caved and got my blue car. It had 74K miles, about 2K in the last ten years...but you sound prepared to tackle a likely maintenance backlog- its often a taller mountain than first anticipated! Keep fuel lines and 'intake refresh' (rest of soft bits for vacuum under the upper plenum) high on the priority list.

Yes
To all you guys with new cars.
If you dont want it to drop a valve through a piston
or burn to the ground, you need to find out how new the timing belt and water pump is and if the fuel lines were ever changed.
why the water pump you say? because if it seizes the TB brakes and it can cost as much as another car to fix.
2 or 3 have burned this year and 2 or 3 have had valve to piston contact
