1986.5 928 S back from the shop - Yes!
The car now runs pretty well, with alot of power. I took it down our state highway and was very impressed with the get up and go! I am going to have fun with this car.
The car is far from perfect and I have a few more things to work out, including:
1) fixing the right wiper nozzle hookup to work, so both wiper bottles will spray when they are supposed to - catalog sheet is confusing
2) getting the courtsey light in the engine bay to work - can't figure where the wire runs to
3) figure why the warning light comes on occasionally with no "message" on the dash indicator (maybe low wiper fluid?)
4) which spare tire is correct for 1986.5 - I have 2 that don't really fit in the tire well. Part numbers 928-302-130-02 (red color) & 928-361-018-03
5) getting hatch releases to work would be nice
That's all I can think and I hope to not visit the mechanic for a long while - Ted

Almost no 928's came with rear washer nozzle's. I think there was one country that required a nozzle if you have a wiper, but very very few US (maybe none) actually got the rear washer set up.
The second "water" bottle for washer fluid is for the "Intensive washer fluid" NOT for regular wiper fluid. That is triggered by a small button under the leading edge of the pod to the right of the steering wheel. Kind of under where the key goes it but a bit closer to the steering column.
None of the spare tires fit well. I think the ones for S4/GTS brake cars is red. The others IIRC are silver or black.
Courtesy light in the engine bay is triggered by a switch connected to the fender edge on the passenger fender closer to the firewall a foot or so behind the cross brace. Normally it is that switch that is the problem. I think only BLU82 and my '94 actually work...all the rest are dead, some may be bulbs, but I bet most are tired old switches and that have been cooked over the years to many times.
If you hear the motor working with you lift the hatch release then the problem is probably your white plastic insert is gone or all broken up. Also if the struts that hold the hatch up on not strong enough that will also add to hatch popping problems. If the motor does not make noise when you lift the switch check the inline fuse. I can't remember if there is also a fuse in the CE panel for the hatch release... Early cars did not even have a hatch release and later cars only have them on the drivers side...just for information purposes there.

The best way to fix your car is to pick one thing and find the info you can about it in the WSM. Then take a picture of the area or parts or items and we as a group will try our best to walk you through the diagnosis or repair.
One step at a time

My spare tire fit perfect. That is until I inflated it just for the fun of it. I let the air out and now it's a tight fit. Next chance I get I'm going to attach my HVAC vacuum pump to it which should squish it back to normal. Also picked up a spare tire subwoofer that fits inside of it just right.

I am working on the passenger side wiper nozzle, I think I need a replacement piece is all. I have ordered the hatch gasket and will take a stab at the engine bay light. I have an extra spare tire - a red one that I will sell. My current spare fits ok I guess. Last biggie project is to replace inside trunk trim that has split by the side windows. Our hot Texas sun doesn't help with the interior of any cars. Again thanks for your suggestions. Got to post some more pictures, no excuse its been a real mild winter in Dallas - Ted
