Morning Brad and all,
Looks like great minds think alike HA - I am putting in my mini-starter!!!! Just like you.
I took a friend an I an couple of hours of wrangling to get the old one out of there with out moving the sway bar (although we thought about it, but it would not budge). Since we were not going to re-use it we could be a little rough with it.
But I was not sure about the wiring from old to new so I am asking Roger just to be sure. I plan on putting it in tomorrow then. I am just not sure where the black wire from the harness goes, I almost has to go into the hole of the grey rubber cover. Underneath is a post.
I also took some spray on Rhino Lining stuff and sprayed my Battery compartment while the battery was out. Took some nice pics comparing the old and new starter and the wiring, so when I get confirmation I will post them.
Winter is almost done....yippeeeeeee

Ah I see! Yes I did. There is a new version of the IMI starter that Roger at 928sRUS are now selling. It was adpated for better fit electrically and otherwise for the Sharks.
I will post a Pic soon as I took them along the way. I have not put it in yet because of the Black wire question. I have a request into Roger to clear that up for me. If he answers today - I will install it tonight. Otherwise Friday. the old one is out...(after an hour or so of fighting....)
Apparently some of the other minis have some orientation issues that could result in arcing, especially in a crash and placement of the electrical connections. So far it looks nice, weighs less than 9 lbs and supposedly is stronger than earlier models.
Most all of them use Denso motors and then the seller puts their solenoid and other parts on it. From the posts etc. I have read, it appears IMI is the one to get.
More later.....

thought about Mac, but I had already talked to the guys at IMI directly and got it figured out, and they sent me the splicing wire for free!.....And FYI, the Yellow AND Black wire from the wiring harness go to the black spade clip in your pic!
See my other post about the starter install for pics and details. Oh yeah It's In!!! But with Ken's lift bars which are excellent BTW, and the right tools (finally).
I am back on the road!
