Electrical connector right front, big pins- was created by Normy1
There is an electrical connector for the engine at the right front of the engine. This connector is LARGE and looks like something from the '60's.
The wires that lead to this connector? They are GONE, bare, dry rotted and gone. The wires that remain are GREEN, due to corrosion from Florida humidity, bare copper wire! This is the huge bakelite connector at the front right of the car. Normally this connector is under a protective cover.
Thoughts? Ideas as to how to fix this?

Is this the 14-terminal connector located just under the jump start terminal?
In any case, repair is possible, but not easy. One way is to carefully identify which wire goes to which terminal; disassemble the connector, shorten each wire to get good wire to the individual terminal and reassemble. If the wires are too short to get to good insulation and wire, you might have to chemically clean the wire and add heat-shrink insulation.
You can sometimes buy a used wire harness, but installation isn't easy. You don't want to know how much a new factory harness costs...

You can buy the casing and lid that goes to it, but like Wally said, you need to have some idea of where things go in order to reconnect. I have a picture or two from when I replaced mine. I will post later today when I get home. Hope that will help.
But remind us - Model year - mine is an 83 US auto that you will see pics from
