I am back on working on my engine, and as much as I want to get it together and go for a ride I am going to take my time and get everything running and looking like new. So my first question is on engine cleaning what is the best thing to use to get the block and outer engine parts clean and shiny. I am going to get the intake powder coated so, I just need know what to use on the engine now! Thanks for any and all advice.

I just wire brushed mine on the sides and the top areas at the front I buffed smooth with a dy-grinder and sanding wheel

Looks good Brad that is the look I am looking for, I know it is going to take a lot of time.

The intake took two weeks, and then you need to sneak it into the oven when the wife if out. note, allow oven cool down time before she gets back.

This may be moot if above is what your solution...but for the first step of removing oil buildup, cosmoline/osmocote overspray, etc....when doing my t-belt/wpump lately my 'coach' used white kerosene loaded into a spray bottle, and assorted brass detailing brushes to get down to the natural metal.

Will be interesting to see how that buffed surface weathers over time.
