Hi all.

When I bought the stereo I also bought this rear mount camera.

I was thinking about how to run the wires to the back of the car (from inside to outside)
Then It came to me that maybe I don't need to.

I could mount it around the sunroof hump behind the front seats and shoot through the rear window.

Then I thought, hey I have the capability to maybe record direct to the SG card or even the laptop and if I spin it forward I could record an entire trip.
Now how cool would that be

The stereo is a AVH P5200 BT

any thoughts

I could also record the cop pulling me over

Can you turn it around in that base? Or would you need to use some kind of swivel base? Really cool for Porsche events or just fun drives....or idiots trying to mess with you and for backing up of course. The best picture to the rear I would think would be to mount it maybe on the side of the hatch window or at the base of the hatch window. Front view would suffer though. I don't know the later model bodies that well otherwise.

But you could also mount it in the front looking through the front fascia somehow, like below the headlamps somewhere, that would be an AWESOME movie angle for recording drives.

OR maybe buy another one and put one in the rear for most of the time and one in the front for long drive or track time!!! Just disconnect one or find a small video switch!

Anyway have fun with it

Could you devise some way to put it in the base of your roof antenna??? That might be a cool view!

Nothing to report yet. The car is on hold until the renos are done in the house unfortunetly.

I am still undesided on how it will be mounted as I would like to have a front and a rear option from inside the cab.
I may mount it around the sunroof hump area behind the front seats

If you mount it to the roof like you're saying facing to the rear, how is that ANY different than turning around and looking behind you when backing the car up? Plus, your rear-view mirror does the EXACT same thing. Minus recording (for fun), I don't see the need?

Hands down the best camera for a car in motion is a GoPro. It's full HD, and while kind of expensive you can mount it ANYWHERE and no holes to drill or wires to run.
